Volunteer With Us
Volunteer staff members are the most important people when it comes to carrying out our mission. There are many ways to volunteer at NNEMAP Food Pantry. We offer flexible scheduling options, short shifts, and more thanks than we can ever hope to give.
Individuals & Groups Welcome
Does your company give you time away from work to volunteer? Are you part of a group that serves the community? Are you looking to make a difference in someone’s life? NNEMAP Food Pantry’s central location offers a convenient destination. Visit us for an experience to remember! Contact Executive Director Roy Clark at director@nnemappantry.org to schedule your visit today.
NOTE: Volunteers must be over 18 years old or accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult. NNEMAP does not accept requests for court-ordered community service volunteers.
Volunteer Roles Available:
Grocery Delivery Driver
Many of our customers lack transportation, have health conditions that make it difficult to get out, or may be homebound due to other challenges. Our grocery delivery service ensures that our most vulnerable neighbors will not go hungry. Deliveries are within 5 miles of the pantry. Required skills: some heavy lifting needed, friendly, and personal use of your vehicle.
Client Interviewer
Client Interviewers enroll new guests in the Mid-Ohio Food Collective’s “Pantry Trak” system and help pantry visitors keep their information up to date. Our interviewers have the ability to make someone’s day easier with a smile and kind word. Required skills: some computer experience is necessary (training will be provided), friendly disposition, problem solving skills or the ability to ask for help when needed.
Personal Shopper
The Personal Shopper helps to tailor grocery carts with groceries for our visiting neighbors. They also have the opportunity to check items being donated for quality, before they reach our neighbors. Required skills: bagging grocery items, standing, sorting, and willingness to collaborate with customers when needed.
Grocery Getter
Volunteers go to Mid-Ohio Collective in Grove City and other vendor locations to pick up donations. Hours are available every day. “Substitute drivers” are always welcome, too! Required skills: some heavy lifting, cellphone use, and personal use of a larger vehicle like an SUV or pickup truck.
Stockroom/Inventory Assistant
On an average day, NNEMAP gives away a 3-day supply of food for about 150-200 people. The Stockroom/Inventory Assistant makes sure food is available for guests, accepts deliveries and donations, and helps manage cardboard recycling and trash removal. Required skills: standing and some heavy lifting may be required.
Special Events/Fundraisers
NNEMAP Food Pantry holds a variety of special events throughout the year to raise funds and awareness in support of our mission. If you are gifted in fundraising, event planning or enjoy the process of preparing for an event with friends and other volunteers, this may be the role for you! Stay tuned to our Events page for upcoming opportunities to help!
